Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2026. These Terms of Service (ToS) apply to the use of the ReachCheck web app (reachcheck.com) and all related services.
1. Scope
These Terms of Service (ToS) govern the use of the ReachCheck web app (hereinafter "Service") operated by VEHI Digital UG (haftungsbeschränkt) (hereinafter "Provider", "we" or "us"). By registering or using the Service, you accept these ToS in their current version. If you do not accept these ToS, you may not use the Service.
2. Subject matter and services
ReachCheck is a check-in service ("dead man's switch"): users confirm at regular intervals that they are OK. If a check-in is missed, your designated emergency contacts are notified by email. The Service includes:
- The ability to perform regular check-ins
- Management of emergency contacts
- Automatic email notifications for missed check-ins
- Configuration of check-in intervals and grace periods
- Optional: Multiple profiles per account (FAMILY Plan)
- Optional: Ad-free usage (PLUS/FAMILY Plans)
3. Registration and user account
Registration is required to use the Service. Registration is done via email address using magic-link authentication (passwordless). You agree to provide truthful, complete, and current information when registering and using the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
4. Use of the service
You agree to use the Service only in accordance with these ToS and applicable law. In particular, you are prohibited from:
- Using the Service for unlawful purposes
- Harming or harassing third parties
- Attempting to manipulate or attack the technical infrastructure
- Circumventing technical protection measures
- Using automated systems to overload the Service (except approved automations such as iOS Shortcuts)
- Sharing your access credentials with third parties
You are responsible for performing your check-ins regularly. The Provider does not guarantee that notifications will be sent reliably or on time. The Service is not a substitute for professional emergency or security services.
5. Emergency contacts
You can add emergency contacts who will be notified when check-ins are missed. Contacts must provide consent via double opt-in (DOI) before receiving notifications. You are responsible for only adding persons as emergency contacts who are actually intended to serve as such and have given appropriate consent. Contacts can withdraw their consent at any time and unsubscribe from notifications.
6. Pricing and payment terms
The Service is offered in various plans:
- FREE: Free, with ads, limited number of contacts and profiles
- PLUS: Monthly or yearly payment, no ads, extended features
- FAMILY: Monthly or yearly payment, no ads, multiple profiles
Payments are processed via Stripe. Current prices are available on the billing page. Subscriptions are automatically renewed unless cancelled. You can cancel your subscription at any time in the settings. For annual subscriptions, no prorated refund is provided for early cancellation unless required by law.
7. Right of withdrawal
Consumers have a right of withdrawal in accordance with legal provisions. If you are a consumer and have concluded a paid plan, you can withdraw from it within 14 days of conclusion without giving reasons. The withdrawal must be declared to us. After expiry of the withdrawal period or if performance begins immediately with your express consent, the right of withdrawal expires.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time in the settings. For paid subscriptions, you can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We reserve the right to block or delete your account in case of violations of these ToS or applicable law. After account deletion, your personal data will be deleted or anonymised in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. Liability
The Provider is fully liable for intent and gross negligence and in accordance with product liability law. For slight negligence, the Provider is only liable in case of breach of an essential contractual obligation, the fulfilment of which enables the proper performance of the contract and on whose compliance the user can regularly rely (cardinal obligation). In this case, liability is limited to the foreseeable, typically occurring damage.
IMPORTANT LIABILITY DISCLAIMER: The Service is not a professional emergency or security service. The Provider does not guarantee that:
- Check-ins are reliably detected or processed
- Notifications are sent reliably or on time
- Emergency contacts are actually reached
- The Service is available at all times (no availability guarantee)
- Data losses do not occur
You use the Service at your own risk. The Provider is not liable for damages resulting from outages, delays, or errors in the Service, unless these are based on intent or gross negligence on the part of the Provider.
10. Data protection
The protection of your personal data is important to us. Information on the processing of your data can be found in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these ToS.
11. Intellectual property
All rights to the ReachCheck web app, including the software, design, texts, and other content, belong to the Provider or its licensors. You receive a simple, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Service within the scope of these ToS. Reproduction, distribution, or other use outside the Service is not permitted.
12. Changes to ToS
We reserve the right to update these ToS as needed, e.g. when the Service or legal requirements change. We will notify you of material changes by email or in the app. If you do not agree to the amended ToS, you can cancel your account. Continued use of the Service after notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the amended ToS.
13. Final provisions
If individual provisions of these ToS are or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the legally permissible provision that comes closest to the economic purpose of the invalid provision.
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers domiciled in another EU member state, the mandatory provisions of the law of that state remain unaffected.
Place of performance and jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract is, to the extent legally permissible, the Provider's registered office in Berlin. For consumers domiciled outside Germany, the right to sue at the court of their domicile remains unaffected.
